India vs Sri Lanka on December 13

India will look to bounce back in the second ODI against Sri Lanka after the humiliating loss in the first ODI to level the three-match ODI series 1-1. Virat Kohli minus India struggled against Sri Lanka in the first ODI, being bowled out for 112. Rohit Sharma-led India would look to turn the tables around when they face off Sri Lanka in the second ODI. Sri Lanka have performed above expectations in the first ODI to break 12-match losing streak. India are without their star batsman in Virat Kohli, but they have enough firepower in their line-up to destroy any bowling attack. However, they had an off day in Dharamsala where conditions were conducive for fast bowling. Sri Lanka would look to carry on the momentum and win a rare series away from home.

·         Best economical pick – One of the most impressive Lankan cricketers in the ongoing tour Suranga Lakmal was all smiles in Dharamshala. The pacer made full use of the conditions and bagged four big wickets in his quota of 10 overs. Lakmal conceded just 13 runs and bowled four maiden overs. He looked unplayable and went for just one boundary. He was adjudged the man of the match.

·         Top captains & vice captains – Rohit Sharma is one of the most devastating openers in limited-overs cricket. He can destroy any bowling attack on his day. He had an off day in Dharamsala, but would look to make amends in the Mohali ODI. Rohit had always scored well against Sri Lanka and would look to bank on his past records against the island nation to destroy them in the 2nd ODI. On a wicket where the Indian’s top order managed to accumulate just 13 runs, Upul Tharanga smashed ten boundaries and held one end up. He lost his opening partner Gunathilaka and then Lahiru Thirimanne inside the first seven overs but didn’t drop his guard. He edged one to the slips to Shikhar Dhawan and missed out on a well-deserved fifty, as he went back scoring 49 off 46 balls.

·       Smart pick – MS Dhoni has shown time and again that temperament is a greater supplement over technique and he showed it one more time in first ODI with a sparkling half century and fought a lone battle for India while the wickets were tumbling down at the other end. The former captain was the last man dismissed for India at the score of 65 having faced 87 deliveries and hit 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.

·         Cautious Pick – Dinesh Karthik had a horrible time batting in the first ODI as he registered the record of scoring the longest duck by an Indian batsman in an ODI. Karthik looked completely out of sorts right through his presence at the crease against the moving ball. He was beaten repeatedly both on the inside as well as the outside edge and his dismissal always looked on the cards.

My XI – Rohit Sharma (Captain), Upul Tharanga (Vice-Captain) MS Dhoni, Suranga Lakmal, Shreyas Iyer, Nuwan Pradeep, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Manish Pandey, Danushka Gunathilaka
