Start With the Auction Rulebook

The first step is not software - it is clarity. Decide the number of teams, squad size, purse, player categories, base prices, bid increments, roster restrictions, pre-assigned players, player sequence, jump-bid rules and the process for unsold players.

Once these rules are agreed, the technology can be configured around them.

Build the Player Database

Collect and validate player information before the auction. Depending on the league, profiles may include photographs, playing role, batting and bowling style, age group, location, achievements, statistics, category and base value.

Configure Teams and Purse

Create each franchise with its team name, logo, starting purse and any pre-assigned or retained players. If pre-drafted players consume part of the purse, the live-auction starting balance should reflect those deductions.

Give Teams a Pre-Auction View

Owners should have time to study the pool. CricBattle can provide pre-auction player views and private preference lists so teams arrive with a strategy rather than relying only on printed sheets.

Test Before Auction Day

Run a mock auction. Test player presentation, bidding, increments, Maximum Bid, team dashboards, squad restrictions, SOLD updates and the unsold-player workflow. A short rehearsal can prevent major delays during the real event.

Run the Live Auction

The auctioneer calls the player, franchises bid, and CricBattle tracks the current price and team position. Once the player is SOLD, the platform updates the winning franchise, purchase value, remaining purse and squad.

Plan the Final Unsold Round

If your rules allow unsold players to return, ask teams for preferences after the main auction. Bring back only shortlisted players in an accelerated round. This keeps the final phase fast and relevant.
