Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan on June 4

At Hambantota's Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will take part in the second of three one-day international matches. The world no. 8 team, Afghanistan, has already qualified for the 2023 World Cup, and they will look at this series as their preparation for that. In fact, it was replicated in their performance in the first game. After winning the toss, Afghanistan elected to bowl. In the absence of Afghanistan match winner Rashid Khan, the team was able to pick up 10 wickets against Sri Lanka and restrict them to under 270 runs. Credit goes to Afghanistan's seamers, who struck with the new ball as well as the old ball. At one stage, they picked half the side of Sri Lanka under 200 runs, and the lower middle order's contributions helped Sri Lanka post a total of 268 runs. All three spinners of Afghanistan and Omarzai took one wicket each. Sri Lanka will play the World Cup qualifiers this month in Zimbabwe. In the first ODI, SL couldn't handle the left-arm pacer's line and length in the initial overs. Charith Aslanka, the left-hander in their middle order, joined hands with Dhananjaya de Silva to put on a 99-run stand for the fifth wicket to take Sri Lanka to a decent position. Notably, Sri Lanka's spinners failed to pick a wicket. The highlight for Afghanistan was the 98 runs scored by opener Ibrahim Zadran, who has a stellar record in Sri Lanka. Zadran and Rahmat Shah shared a second wicket partnership of 146 runs, which kept the mission on momentum. Finally, Afghanistan reached the target in 46.5 overs.

Best economical pick – The 28-year-old Fareed Ahmed bowled a brilliant spell of 2/43 in eight overs and got the big wicket of Angelo Mathews. The left-arm seamer will look to bowl his team to victory in the second ODI by dismissing the top batters from Sri Lanka.

Top captains & vice captains – Pathum Nissanka is a dependable batter for Sri Lanka. He starts slow, but he sticks there to rotate the strike to increase the run flow. In the last 8 games, his strike rate is 82.92, with a healthy average of 43. The all-round capability of Mohammed Nabi increases his fantasy potential; he can play aggressively if needed. In the last match, he bowled seven overs and took one wicket and scored a valuable 27 runs in the end.

Smart pick – Fazalhaq Farooqi has taken 18 wickets in the last ten games and has been productive with the ball since the Big Bash. His strike rate of 27 is outstanding. He will be bowling in the initial overs and in the end for Afghanistan. His impactful performance in the first ODI helped Afghanistan to restrict Sri Lanka from scoring over 270 runs.

Cautious Pick – Though Azmatullah Omarzai an all-rounder, his batting average is 11 in ODIs, and he has picked up just 5 wickets in 8 games. His batting position is also one of the reasons to skip him in your fantasy team.

My XI – Pathum Nissanka (Captain), Mohammed Nabi (Vice-Captain), Fareed Ahmed, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kusal Mendis, Rahmanulah Gurbaz, Charith Asalanka, Ibrahim Zadran, Najibullah Zadran, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dimuth Karunaratne
