Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians will be facing each other in the 38th match of the IPL 2024. Both teams would be high on confidence following their thrilling wins in their most recent matches. RR scripted history against KKR by chasing the joint-highest score in the history of the league. Jos Buttler pulled off a terrific win for his side by scoring a hundred. Despite being out of the game for most parts, RR managed to pull off an insane win. On the other hand, MI won the match against PBKS by just 9 runs. A great bowling spell from Jasorit Bumrah with the assistance of Gerald Coetzee from the other end helped the 5-time champions to overcome the home side. Despite the valiant efforts from Asutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh, PBKS fell short. RR and MI have been involved in some great matches in the league. In 2023, both teams took part in the 1000th match of the league. It was good. Arguably the greatest IPL match featured these two teams in 2014 which decided the fate of their qualification for the playoffs. Fans would hope to witness something similar on the 22nd of April 2024. RR has a good record at the venue which might give them a slight edge. One can expect a good contest between bat and ball given the nature of the wicket. 

Best economical pick – Riyan Parag has been one of the best batters in the ongoing season. The youngster has managed to deliver the goods for his side with the bat. In the last game, the right-handed batter scored 34 runs in 14 balls which helped RR in the run chase against KKR.

Top captains & vice captains – Jos Buttler slammed a brilliant ton in the last game and will look to deliver a good start for the Royals. He has been striking the ball well and fitness could be a question for the next game. With RR getting ample time before their game against MI, Buttler seems to have recovered well. If he sees through Jasprit Bumrah in the initial part of the tussle, he could prove as a game-changer. Suryakumar Yadav was the highest run-scorer for MI in the last game against PBKS. On a tricky wicket to bat on, Yadav took risks as soon as he entered the middle. As the pitch got slower, he held up one end. Jaipur is likely to be a similar wicket.

Smart pick – Jasprit Bumrah must strike early to put the MI in a commanding position. The bowling attack must deliver the goods as they are up against a formidable batting lineup. Having said that, Bumrah has led from the front as was evident in the game against Punjab Kings. Where every other bowler went for runs, he bowled at an economy rate of less than six.

Cautious Pick – Dhruv Jurel has been woefully out of form in the ongoing season. The emerging batter has not played a significant knock with the bat so far. After impressing everyone in the IPL 2023 and the Test series against England, Jurel has fallen off the radar.
