Rajasthan vs Hyderabad on May 2

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), a couple of days ago, were thumped by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. It was their fifth loss in six matches and they are languishing at the bottom of the points table. In their next game on Sunday, May 2, David Warner and Co would be up against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and would be looking to make some amends. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s untimely injury hasn’t done any good to them either. The Royals, on the other, have strained as well. Barring their win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), they haven’t looked convincing by any means. In their previous match, Mumbai Indians (MI) slapped them with a seven-wicket defeat. Their net run rate of -0.690 is also the worst among the participating teams.

Best economical pick The young Chetan Sakariya has been a revelation for the Rajasthan Royals in the 14th edition of the IPL. He is the most successful bowler for the franchise in terms of economy rate. Thus far, in six IPL matches, Chetan has picked seven wickets at an economy rate of 8 and an average of 26.29.

Top captains & vice captainsJonny Bairstow has arguably been the standout batter for the Sunrisers in the tournament. In six games, the right-hander has scored 218 runs at an average and strike rate of 43.60 and 141.55 respectively. He already has two half-centuries with a top score of an unbeaten 63. Against the Royals, the Englishman has scored 71 runs from three games with the highest score of 45. In the last two matches, Sanju Samson has batted quite well, getting his second successive score of 40+. He is their key batter and holds the key to the middle of Rajasthan Royals. He has been in some good knick this season.

Smart pick – Rashid Khan has been the standout bowler for the Sunrisers in the league. In six matches, the tweaker has picked nine wickets. He is in decent form as he picked up three wickets against the Super Kings, though his performance came in a losing cause. His economy rate of 6.16 is also the best among his teammates. Against the Royals, Rashid has seven wickets from 21 overs at an economy of 6.38.

Cautious Pick – Sunrisers Hyderabad sacked David Warner as captain for the remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Kane Williamson replaced him at the helm even as the franchise confirmed that the Australian will continue to contribute to the team and direct them towards the path of success. However, it was also stated that the management is looking to try different combinations of overseas players in the team. This has dropped a big hint of David Warner most probably not playing their next game against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. The southpaw hasn’t been at his best with the bat this season despite being the second-highest run-scorer for SRH so far. He has mustered 193 runs in six matches at an average of 32.16. But his strike-rate of 110.28 has been a worrying factor.

My XI – Jonny Bairstow (Captain), Sanju Samson (Vice-Captain), Rashid Khan, Chetan Sakariya, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, David Miller, Mustafizur Rahman, Chris Morris, Rahul Tewatia, Shivam Dube
