Lucknow vs Rajasthan on April 27

Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals collide in match 44 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, April 27. Lucknow are placed at No. 4 on the points table with five wins and three losses from eight matches. Meanwhile, Rajasthan have been rampant and have kept a stranglehold on the pole position, having won seven and lost just one out of their eight games. The Super Giants are coming into this clash on the back of consecutive wins against defending champions Chennai Super Kings. In the most recent encounter, KL Rahul and Co. chased down a 211-run target with six wickets and three balls to spare on the back of Marcus Stoinis' phenomenal century. Rajasthan, on the other hand, have won their last three fixtures, the most recent one being against Mumbai Indians in Jaipur. Yashasvi Jaiswal's breathtaking century helped the first-ever IPL champions to chase down a 180-run target with nine wickets and eight balls to spare.

Best economical pick – IPL 2024 has been the season where one can finally say that Riyan Parag has finally emerged. The youngster from Assam has been one of the leading scorers with the bat in the IPL this year. While he is yet to bowl, Riyan Parag has been amazing on the field and has taken some amazing catches to aid in his teams’ dream run so far.

Top captains & vice captains – Yashasvi Jaiswal had been having a dismal run in IPL 2024 but that ended in the last game, as he slammed an unbeaten 104 off 60 balls in the last game against Mumbai in Jaipur, belting nine fours and seven sixes. In his young competitive cricket career, the southpaw has shown the ability to scores a lot of runs when he is in form and is high on confidence. His remarkable knock against Mumbai must have boosted his morale and there is a good chance of him continuing from where he left when he steps out to face LSG. Arguably one of the top three batters in T20 cricket right now, the role that Nicholas Pooran has played this year has been exemplary. The West Indian scored a crucial 34 runs in the last game versus Chennai Super Kings to help his team comeback into the contest. Pooran has provided LSG with the needed muscle towards the back end of the innings or when the going goes tough.

Smart pick Yuzvendra Chahal will enjoy bowling on the Ekana surface. The pitch might not have been as favourable for the spinners as it was last year but there is enough in it to keep them interested. Chahal has been in prolific form, having picked up 13 wickets from eight games at an average of 20.38. His four overs will be key for the Royals.

Cautious Pick – It has been a huge cause of worry for a lot of cricket fans at the way Ravichandran Ashwin has bowled during this season of IPL. The 37-year-old has picked just one wicket and that came in the game versus LSG at the start of the season. If this continues, RR may act tough and look to draft in someone else to replace the veteran spinner.

My XI – Yashasvi Jaiswal (Captain), Nisholas Pooran (Vice-Captain), Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler, Quinton de Kock, Trent Boult, Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer
