Kolkata vs Punjab on April 26

Kolkata Knight Riders continue their ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 campaign by taking on Punjab Kings. Both sides will lock horns in the 42nd game of the tournament at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, April 26. KKR have enjoyed a successful campaign so far, winning five of the seven matches that they have played in the season. Currently, the side sits in second place in the standings. On the other hand, Punjab Kings find themselves on the wrong end of the spectrum. Having played eight games in the tournament, Punjab have only registered wins in two matches and lost the remaining six. They find themselves in ninth place in the standings and will hope that the clash against KKR can turn their fortunes around.

Best economical pick – Punjab Kings’ Harshal Patel could be the best bowler in the upcoming game against KKR. With 13 wickets in eight games, Harshal Patel is the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, and his spell could be influential against the two-time champions.

Top captains & vice captains – Kolkata Knight Riders’ Sunil Narine could be the best batter in the upcoming clash against Punjab Kings. With 286 runs in seven matches, Narine has been in brilliant form, and having scored a century recently, Narine’s performance as KKR’s opener could be key against PBKS. Andre Russell scored a 25-ball 64 in the first match played here this season. While the big man contributes with such influential cameos with the bat, his bowling prowess has also been a crucial factor in KKR's impressive run so far. Having taken 9 wickets in 7 matches, Russell has the best strike rate of 8.89 and fourth-best bowling average of 14.89.

Smart pick Ashutosh Sharma is the find of the season. A monster tag would suit him more than a youngster. He and Shashank Singh have been a formidable duo to lift PBKS out of difficult situations. At a staggering strike rate of 189.29, the lower middle order batter has scored 159 runs in five innings.

Cautious Pick Shikhar Dhawan has missed the last few matches due to injury but that may not have hurt the team much given his poor performance with the bat. The southpaw has struggled to find form and his lean patch looks set to continue.

My XI – Sunil Narine (Captain), Andre Russell (Vice-Captain), Harshal Patel, Ashutosh Sharma, Phil Salt, Sam Curran, Shashank Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh
