India vs New Zealand on January 18

India will host New Zealand in the first ODI match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday (January 18). The Indian team beat Sri Lanka in three-match ODI series by 3-0 after their shocking defeat against Bangladesh last month. They put in impressive all-round performance against Sri Lanka with Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj dominating the series. New Zealand lost the opening ODI against Pakistan but made a good comeback by winning the following two matches to seal the series. Captain Kane Williamson and head coach Gary Stead are missing the tour alongside star pacers Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Adam Milne, and Trent Boult. The in-form wicketkeeper batter Tom Latham will be leading the team for the Kiwis, who scored 145* against India during India's tour of New Zealand last month. New Zealand rank first in the current ICC ODI Team's chart and have not lost any of last five ODI encounters against India.

Best economical pick – The experienced Kiwi spin all-rounder Michael Bracewell scored 58 runs from three innings in ODIs against Pakistan but also managed to get four wickets at an impressive economy rate of 3.90.

Top captains & vice captains –The star Indian batter Virat Kohil smashed 166* off 110 in the last ODI match against Sri Lanka and scored 283 runs from three innings at an average of 141.50. He has scored three hundreds from his last four ODIs and will be a safe captaincy option on the fantasy team. The star opener Devon Conway scored 153 runs from three innings with the help of one hundred and a half-century against Pakistan in ODIs. He has scored 578 runs from just 14 ODIs and will be a key batter for Kiwis in this series.

Smart pick – The number one T20I batter in the ICC rankings Suryakumar Yadav has yet to achieve the same numbers in the ODI format. He played the third ODI against Sri Lanka and managed just four runs. With Shreyas Iyer out of the series, Surya will likely get an extended run in this series, and he should capitalize on this opportunity.

Cautious Pick – The experienced Indian pacer Mohammad Shami managed to take only three wickets from three ODIs against Sri Lanka and has taken only five wickets from his last five overall innings. So not picking him in your fantasy team will be a good choice.

My XI – Virat Kohli (Captain), Devon Conway (Vice-Captain), Michael Bracewell, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Umran Malik, Tom Latham, Rohit Sharma, Mitchell Santner, Shubman Gill
