India and Australia are all set to lock horns in the World Test Championship final from June 7 at the Oval in London. Australia finished on the first spot in the WTC points table with a points percentage of 66.67 while India finished on the second spot with a points percentage of 58.8. Best economical pick – Currently, Shubman Gill is in exceptional form with the bat. In this year’s Border-Gavaskar 2022-23 at home, he looked dominating with his bat. Scoring 154 runs in three innings of two matches, he exuded confidence with his bat. In his brief Test career, the 23-year-old has gathered 890 runs in 28 innings of 15 matches. In the final WTC game, his role will be to support his captain Rohit with his spunky batting attitude. Against Australia, his record has been amazing as the right-handed batter has scored 413 runs in nine innings of five matches.

Top captains & vice captains – If Australia's batting revolves around any batter, it is Steven Smith. He's a beast in Tests, probably the best Test batter going around. With a Bradmanesque average in the format, he has dominated Indian bowlers in the past. He averages 65 against India with 8 Test centuries. And in England, he has close to 1800 runs against his name. The right-handed batsman has played 5 Tests this year, hitting 249 runs at an average of 41.50. He also scored a century. With his outstanding form, he will be a key batsman for the team. Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round services will become important for India to claim a victory against Cummins and his boys. He was one of the top performers for India in the previous Test series against Australia. In the upcoming WTC final challenge, his role will be vital for India to get the better of the Aussies. The veteran’s unprecedented all-round capability powers the team in every department of the game. The 34-year-old has played 11 Tests in England, thus far, in which he has trapped 23 batters in 19 innings, with his best figures of 7/258 in a match. Jadeja’s batting record is also incredible on English soil as the stylish India all-rounder has hit 594 runs with a ton and three half-centuries in 21 innings.

Smart pick – Marnus Labuschagne has become the backbone of Australia's batting ever since he made his Test debut. Once he gets set, it's close to an impossible task to get him out. In 8 games in 2023, the right-handed batsman has scored 323 runs at an average of 46.14. Against India, he hasn't stamped his domination yet. He would love to score on the big stage. During, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy he got good starts but again like Steve Smith he would be disappointed with his own performance. He will look to grab the opportunity with both hands in London when he faces Indian bowling line-up.

Cautious Pick – Jaydev Unadkat made a return to the Test side in December 2022, after being away from the Test team for almost 10 years. He has played only 2 Tests so far and picked 3 wickets at an average of 56.0. Unadkat might be benched during ICC World Test Championship final. He lacks the experience of bowling in English conditions. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in March 2023 too, Jaydev Unadkat was part of the squad but did not play any of the four matches between India and Australia.
