CricBattle Daily Fantasy Cricket League Tips

Chennai vs Bangalore on March 22

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is here, and the fans can’t wait for the two-month long extravaganza to begin. Ten franchises will go head-to-head and will give their absolutely everything to have a shot at winning the coveted title. The first game of the tournament will see five-time champions Chennai Super Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Chennai Super Kings hate to make changes to their squad and playing XI and have gradually replaced some of their key players with a few young guns. The retirement of Ambati Rayudu and the over-dependence on Deepak Chahar as the primary Indian fast bowler were two of the main concerns for the franchise ahead of the auctions. They brought in the experienced Shardul Thakur to support Chahar in the bowling department. They also roped in youngsters like Rachin Ravindra and Sameer Rizvi for the batting. The side would be hoping to produce yet another stunning campaign and maybe give their skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a fitting farewell. It was yet another season of chopping and changing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore as they splashed the cash on overseas bowlers after releasing virtually 70% of their bowling unit prior to the 2024 Auctions. They added the likes of Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, and Tom Curran to the squad. The franchise also roped in Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for INR 16.50 crore which had also raised some eyebrows amongst the fans. But will these changes result in a change in fortune for the franchise? That is a question only time will tell.

Best economical pick Shivam Dube is an all-rounder and he can get you maximum fantasy points by both his bowling and batting. He has scored 1099 runs with an incredible strike rate of 142.17 over several seasons. Because of his versatility and medium-paced bowling, CSK may rely heavily on his success to produce favorable results and fancy yet another title this year.

Top captains & vice captains – Faf du Plessis was sensational for Bangalore in the last IPL edition. He scored 730 runs in 14 matches at a breathtaking strike rate of 153.68 and ended up as the second-highest run-scorer in the competition. He has a solid technique, excellent temperament, and the ability to anchor the innings, which makes him a reliable run-scorer. In fantasy cricket, consistent performers like du Plessis can accumulate points steadily through runs scored. Glenn Maxwell is likely to be a key player for the franchise this season and his glorious batting skills along with tidy off-spin can be an asset for the franchise in Chennai.

Smart pick – Virat Kohli looked stupendous with the bat in the 2023 edition of the IPL. He hit 639 runs in 14 matches. Kohli missed the England series due to personal reasons. He will look to make a comeback in competetive cricket through IPL. In fantasy cricket, selecting top-order batsmen like Kohli increases the likelihood of accumulating points through runs, boundaries, and milestones such as half-centuries and centuries. Kohli's ability to consistently score runs across different conditions and oppositions makes him a reliable fantasy pick.

Cautious Pick – MS Dhoni is known to be a specialist wicket keeper and bats only for a few balls in every match, so it would not be an ideal option for the side as well.

My XI – Faf du Plessis (Captain), Glenn Maxwell (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dinesh Karthik, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Cameron Green, Lockie Ferguson, Daryl Mitchell
