West Indies vs India on August 3

India and West Indies are all geared up to cross swords in the three-match T20 International series which gets underway on August 3. The opening encounter will take place at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. In their last meeting in the format, the Men in Blue slapped the Caribbean team with a whitewash in the three-match affair in India. The visitors will be going in with a relatively inexperienced bowling attack, though their batting is full-strength. As far as the Islanders are concerned, they included the likes of Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine, both of whom didn’t play the 2019 World Cup. Back in March, the Windies slumped to another clean-sweep, that time at the hands of England. They’ll be keen to make amends. Last year, India thumped the Windies 3-0 at home. But on the head-to-head count in the format, the teams are locked on five wins each. Back in 2016, at the same venue, the Windies beat India by one run in a game, which produced almost 500 runs. KL Rahul and Evin Lewis scored tons in that game and they will take the field again.

Best economical pickKL Rahul scored quite a few runs in the World Cup but also looked a little iffy. However, he has an excellent T20 record. He’s had a couple of brilliant IPLs and also, averages 43.95 and has a strike-rate of almost 150 in T20Is. Thus, we may well see him bat at No. 3, as he did for a large part of 2018.

Top captains & vice captains – Rohit Sharma was the highest run-scorer in the World Cup. He made 648 runs at a fabulous average of 81.00. He scored as many as five hundreds in the tournament which is the most by any batsman in the history of World Cup cricket. India’s limited-overs vice-captain has been in fine form. No other player in the history of T20I cricket has more runs than Rohit Sharma (2331 T20I runs). Moreover, he has scored four hundreds which is also the most by any batsman in T20Is.

Smart pick – Virat Kohli has been hitting the ball well. He scored five successive half-centuries in world Cup. He scored 443 runs at an average of 55.37 in the showpiece event. The last time he played a T20I in India colors was against Australia in February earlier this year. He was hitting the ball well and there was a different Virat Kohli that was seen. He was a lot more attacking and was pretty successful. Evin Lewis has an oustanding record against India in the format. The last time opener Evin Lewis played against India in Florida, he struck a majestic ton to power Windies to a one-run win.

Cautions Pick – Shimron Hetmyer is full of talent but has been a disappointment in T20Is, having an average of 12.11. Pick him in your Fantasy team at your own risk.

My XI – Rohit Sharma (Captain), Evin Lewis (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sunil Narine, Khaleel Ahmed, Kieron Pollard, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan
