West Indies vs Bangladesh on June 17

Windies and Bangladesh will lock horns on Monday for the fourth time in a month or so. The Tigers defeated them three times including the final in the tri-series in Ireland but the World Cup pressure would be completely different. Moreover, the Caribbean side playing the tournament is different as well and won’t carry any baggage of the recent losses. Also, both the teams are desperate for victory having lost their way after starting the World Cup on a high. There will be a few changes in the Bangladesh team it seems after the way they were pummelled by England in the previous encounter. Shakib Al Hasan’s fitness is also a concern but the all-rounder must have got enough time to recover. Sabbir Rahman and Rubel Hossain are likely to be included to bolster respective departments. Windies, on the other hand, might play an all-pace attack to rattle the opposition.

Best economical pickShai Hope averages a staggering 94.57 against Bangladesh, almost twice his overall career average of 49.72. West Indies, who lost to Australia and England due to lack of partnerships with the bat, need someone to play a long innings - who better than Shai Hope to do that?

Top captains & vice captains – A key middle-order batsman, Mushfiqur Rahim, along with Shakib, laid the foundation for Bangladesh's win over South Africa with a steady innings of 78. Mushfiqur, who has scored five half-centuries in his last ten outings against West Indies, averaging 63.71 in that time, will aim for a big innings on Monday. Shakib Al Hasan might not have the kind of start he’d have expected with the ball. But, with the willow in hand, he’s just been unstoppable. After registering two half-centuries in the first two games, the southpaw made it big and got to a wonderful hundred against England. He will continue to be the key in the Bangladesh middle-order.

Smart pick – Andre Russell has looked to swing at everything thus far in the tournament. He still seems to be in a T20 mode and hasn’t really adapted to the situation of the game. Thus, he should look to do a better job and play according to the situation of the game. With the ball, the all-rounder has been doing a fair job and will have a critical role to play.

Cautions Pick – Tamim Iqbal is one of the senior-most batsmen in the Bangladesh line-up and was expected to play a big role in the tournament. However, he failed to live up to the expectations thus far. The left-hander has often got out near scores of 20 and has to perform better and provide his team with a good start.

My XI – Mushfiqur Rahim (Captain), Shakib al Hasan (Vice-Captain), Shai Hope, Andre Russell, Soumya Sarkar, Chris Gayle, Mosaddek Hossain, Sheldon Cottrell, Mustafizur Rahman, Oshane Thomas, Shimron Hetmyer
