Rajasthan vs Delhi on April 15

IPL 2020 runners-up Delhi started their IPL 2021 campaign in fine fashion. They decimated the Chennai Super Kings, courtesy of a whirlwind opening partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. Although they were without a few key personnel, the Capitals never missed a beat during the game. However, the return of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada should add some much-needed firepower to their bowling attack, holding them in good stead. The presence of captain Rishabh Pant in the middle-order will be key for DC against RR. Their opponents, the Rajasthan Royals haven't had the best of starts to IPL 2021. Injury concerns and a heart-breaking loss to the Punjab Kings in their first IPL 2021 game have hit them hard. Ben Stokes being ruled out of the IPL adds insult to injury for the Royals, given Jofra Archer is already on the sidelines. However, Rajasthan have a decent squad, with both Liam Livingstone and David Miller vying for a place in the side. Although their bowling attack did look a touch undercooked, the Royals will fancy their chances on Thursday. Although the Rajasthan Royals have a packed batting unit, the Delhi Capitals are the clear favorites, owing to their superior balance and depth. The return of Nortje and Rabada adds another dimension to their bowling attack, one which might be too hot for the Royals. However, IPL has shown us that no team can be taken lightly. With two valuable points up for grabs, we should be in for a cracking IPL 2021 fixture on Thursday.

Best economical pickMarcus Stoinis has proved to be a go-to man for the Delhi Capitals team since his arrival ahead of the 2020 season. Last year, he scored more than 350 runs for DC at a strike rate close to 150 and then went onto take 13 scalps as well. He was used quite intelligently by Shreyas Iyer and in his absence, captain Rishabh Pant was also seen backing the all-rounder to deliver some overs for Delhi. He scored a 9-ball 14 in the previous match and could be once again seen in the finisher’s role during Delhi’s batting effort.

Top captains & vice captainsShikhar Dhawan was the top scorer for Delhi in the previous edition, scoring more than 600 runs. He was the player of the match in the 1st game against Chennai for his outstanding batting display where he scored 85 runs from just 54 balls. Jos Buttler didn’t open the innings in the previous game against Punjab. He is a destructive batter upfront against the new ball and has the ability to give good starts for his side. He knows the conditions and has a good record of scoring runs here in Wankhede.

Smart pick – Newly-appointed Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant is in some kind of form at the moment. He had scored runs in all forms of the game in the last 4 months for India. He got his first win as a captain against Chennai and he will be definitely an X-factor for his side against Rajasthan.

Cautious Pick – Ajinkya Rahane didn’t bat in their first match of the IPL 2021 as other batsmen comfortably finished that game in style. Though he recently played some crucial knocks, Rahane is struggling to maintain his consistency, especially losing his wicket after getting starts.

My XI – Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Jos Buttler (Vice-Captain), Marcus Stoinis, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Manan Vohra, Kagiso Rabada, Chetan Sarkariya, Chris Woakes, Chris Morris, David Miller
