New Zealand vs Bangladesh on February 16

After comfortably taking a 1-0 lead, hosts New Zealand look to clinch the three-match ODI series when they face Bangladesh in the second ODI at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday, February 16. With a lead in the ODI series, New Zealand have the perfect start and would want to wrap up the series in the second ODI. This would allow them to test their bench-strength for the third ODI keeping in mind the Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh on the other hand were confident about their chances of winning in New Zealand for the first time ever. Although they have suffered a setback, they would be keen to bounce back in the series.

Best economical pick – Although New Zealand had a couple of spin options for the series, Mitchell Santner was their only spinner for the first ODI. Santner did well as he picked up three wickets to trouble the Bangladesh batting attack in the middle overs. Santner can also be a good option with the bat and available at a salary of just 8.5, hence is an economical pick for New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI..

Top captains & vice captains – While there were doubts about his fitness for the first ODI, Martin Guptill showed us that he is ready and fit for any challenge. Hitting a fine century in the first ODI, Guptill is the first name in our list for the second match. Guptill is a perfect opener who can dictate the game from the very beginning. He is a player who should definitely feature in your Fantasy Cricket team. Yes we agree that he was fairly disappointing in the first ODI, but Tamim Iqbal is a man-in-form and could explode onto the scene at any moment. Iqbal’s batting has been very impressive off late and is Bangladesh’s trump card in the series.

Smart pick – New Zealand’s pick among the bowlers in the first ODI, Trent Boult was excellent for the Black Caps in Auckland. He was really effective early on in the innings as he picked up three wickets in quick succession to put pressure on the Bangladesh batsmen. Boult is a very effective player and could be your most bankable pick for the New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI.

Cautions Pick – The experienced campaigner Mushfiqur Rahim scored a half-century in the warm-up match against New Zealand XI in Lincoln, but couldn’t carry on with his good form in the first game. He looked out of sorts and was cleaned up by Trent Boult after he could score only five off 14 balls.

My XI – Martin Guptill (Captain), Tamim Iqbal (Vice-Captain), Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, Lockie Ferguson, Mahmudullah, Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mohammad Mithun
