Hyderabad vs Chennai on April 17

L, Wx3, Lx3. Looks like some math equations? No, this is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s form chart this season so far. SRH’s equation is pretty simple, they were at some point in time flying high but also stumbled more than even they were deserved to. In the southern derby match, SRH will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Dhoni’s men are on a high with seven wins in eight encounters. Breaking winning streak and halting winless run? This could be a question for Hyderabad franchise if they can break Chennai Super Kings’ back and be back on course. Considering the recent form, Sunrisers Hyderabad have been tangled in dilemma and dejection. Their main concern is the weak links in the middle, the dilemma is about their mid-order and dejection is due to their back-to-back three drubs.

Best economical pickKhaleel Ahmed was drafted into the side against the Capitals for his first game of the season and he took the opportunity with both hands as he priced out the openers from his first two overs, before accounting for the fall of Rishabh Pant. With momentum on his side, the left-arm pacer will be banked out to pile the pressure on the Super Kings early on.

Top captains & vice captains – Jonny Bairstow has looked in fabulous touch in his debut season of the IPL with 304 runs from seven games and has made the most of the chance given to him at the top of the order. With the Sunrisers in desperate need for a win, Bairstow's aggression at the top will be pivotal.

Faf du Plessis will open for CSK. The South African has been providing the side with good starts. However, if he can stay in the middle for a longer period of time, he could be quite destructive. It was him who single-handedly won his team the ‘Qualifier’ against SRH last year.

Smart pick – Rashid Khan has bowled his heart out for SRH this season but has been unfortunate to pick up just six wickets from seven games, with the batsmen looking to play out his threat rather than take him to the cleaners. However, Rashid Khan's economy rate of 5.79 is certain to give him the edge going into the game against the Super Kings.

Cautious Pick – Shane Watson is hogging the limelight, not for all the right reasons. He has been scoring single digits from the few matches. On the other hand, Du Plessis is trying to give good starts so it will be Watson’s responsibility to play second fiddle.

My XI – Jonny Bairstow (Captain), Faf du Plessis (Vice-Captain), Rashid Khan, Khaleed Ahmed, David Warner, Ambati Rayudu, Imran Tahir, Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Kane Williamson, Deepak Chahar
