My views on what i feel are the team's strength, weaknesses, and how long can they run into the tournament.

Strengths: They have a rich history of making it to the top 4 every time around, and that will definitely boost their confidence even before starting the tourney. Captain Cool has been amidst controversies and it is to be seen if that will affect the team's performance. They have bought one of the most destructive T20 players in the world in Baz, however they lost out on Hussey 'Mr Cricket', will that hurt their chances? Their Indian batting had been the best till date, however now with no Vijay and Badrinath there are questions to be raised about it. That being said, they still have the brutal in form Raina and one of the best finishers in MSD. Not to forget the all round skills of Bravo and Jaddu. 

Weakness: CSK's Indian bowling has no big names other than Ashwin and Jaddu (who hasn't been in good bowling form anyway). That has always been an area of concern for them. With there being no Badrinath now, who shall stabilize the innings if there were to be a collapse? They have bought Ashish Nehra in this auction, but is he really worth what he was 5 years ago, or is he just going to be the bowler to target for the opponents? Apart from Matt Henry, who is not a big name anyway, their pacers lack the speed to trouble good batsmen.
