England vs South Africa on June 23

In the opening game of a three-match Twenty20 series, likely to remain in the memory for at least a week, England thrashed South Africa by nine wickets with 33 balls to spare. England played extremely well, their opponents tepidly. It was another disappointingly one-sided contest we have seen plenty of those in the Champions Trophy but sadly not much was residing on the outcome of this one. Opting to bat first, the South Africa managed to assemble a mere 143 runs, which, in modern T20 standards, is well below par. England’s Johnny Bairstow had no qualms gunning down the target with an unbeaten 60, thus giving the hosts a 1-0 lead over South Africa in the 3-match series. South Africa will look to level the series by winning the second T20I while England will look to win another series against South Africa by defeating them in second T20I.

·         Best economical pickFarhaan Behardien joined De Villiers one delivery into the fifth over and, although he remained not out for the rest of the innings, he struggled to accelerate to a total that would test England. Behardien made 64 not out from 52 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Farhaan Behardien is available at a cheap budget of 8.5 so he will be an economical pick for your fantasy team.

·         Top captains & vice captains – Man of the Match Jonny Bairstow back to the England team with a bang. He took the chase by the scruff of the neck and smashed six boundaries and two maximums from just 35 balls with the right-hander needing just 29 balls to bring up his fifty. The South African Skipper AB de Villiers reached his 10th IT20 fifty off 49 balls (His slowest in T20 Cricket history), getting there with a phenomenal shot, stepping across his stumps and sweeping Willey for six. Though De Villiers slog-swept two wonderful maximums at the death, he struggled for timing in his 58-ball unbeaten 65.

·         Smart pick – The England opener Jason Roy, who dropped for the Champions Trophy semi-final after a barren run, got the hosts off to an electric start, taking three fours and a six from one Wayne Parnell over. He pondered 28 runs off 14 balls with 3 fours and 2 fours.

·         Cautious Pick – The South African All Rounder Wayne Parnell was punished upfront for 26 runs off his first 2 overs by the right-handed Roy, who took 23 runs off his second over. He can went for lot of runs with this type of bowling performances so be careful before picking him in your fantasy team.

My XI – Johnny Bairstow (Captain), AB de Villiers (Vice-Captain), Jason Roy, Farhaan Behardien, Mark Wood, Imran Tahir, Liam Dawson, Alex Hales, JJ Smuts, David Willey
