Bangladesh vs India on June 15

Bangladesh might have surprised quite a few people by reaching the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy 2017, but the defending champions and the world superpower, as everyone expected, have made it through to the semi-finals but it hasn’t been the smoothest run. India reached semifinals after two utterly dominant wins, over Pakistan and South Africa, sandwich a shock loss to Sri Lanka. In the other hand Bangladesh were far from disgraced in their first-up defeat to England, piling on 305 before being run down by the tournament’s biggest hitters. They were well and truly on the ropes against Australia before the rain came and saved their tournament. A five-wicket win over New Zealand with 16 balls to spare booked a berth in the semi-finals, once Australia failed to beat England. Can Bangladesh stun the world? It seems highly doubtful. India to win.

·         Best economical pickJasprit Bumrah bowled extremely well and kept the South African batsmen at bay. Although he didn’t pick up any wickets in the first spell, he came back during the slog overs and sent back Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo to end with figures of 28/2 in 8 overs and judged man of the match against South Africa.

·         Top captains & vice captains – In a batting line-up that boasts the likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh, it has been Shikhar Dhawan who has done the damage. Shikhar Dhawan has been in an outstanding form in this tournament and once more turned up with a lovely innings. Despite the early loss of Rohit, he went on with his job unflustered. He scored 78 off 83 balls with 12 fours and a six. The veteran is the tournament’s leading run scorer, with 271 runs at 90.33. Tamim Iqbal has been a rock at the top of the order for Bangladesh, with 128 against England and 95 against Australia.

·         Smart pick – Shakib al Hasan as a batsman has been outstanding, with his century against New Zealand winning them a spot in the finals. But the world’s No.1-ranked ODI all-rounder has been a non-factor with the ball, going wicket less through three matches and leaking runs at 6.33 per over..

·         Cautious Pick – The Bangladesh middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman has been in very poor form in this tournament. He has scored just 40 runs in the 3 matches with an ordinary average of 13 so far. So before trading him in your fantasy team be careful.

My XI – Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Tamim Iqbal (Vice-Captain), Jasprit Bumrah, Shakib Al Hasan, Virat Kohli, Rubel Hossain, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahmudullah, Hardik Pandya, Yuvraj Singh
