India vs England on December 8

Already 2-0 in the five match Test series, Indian test skipper Virat Kohli will be heading to Mumbai aiming to clinch the series. The fourth Test between India and England begins on December 8.  The visitors after drawing the first Test at Rajkot , did not live up to their expectations and crumbled to heavy defeats at Vizag by 246 runs in the second Test and losing the third Test at Mohali by 8 wickets. The lack of experience of English batsmen on spin friendly tracks and even on a good bouncy pitch at Mohali has exposed the chinks in the English armor. Thus leaving their India sojourn in disarray. Skipper Cook needs to get his batting order right and ask his batsmen to come to the party when batting first. Without a big total under his belt, he cannot hope to pin down India. India on the other hand have looked a side on a mission Skipper Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara have been in great form and have made up for the failures of others. So onus is on Alastair Cook and his men to rise and challenge India at Mumbai. Will they be able to halt the fine run of Virat Kohli and his men?

·         Best economical pick – England leg-spinner Adil Rashid has made an impact from the first Test itself. He has now picked up 18 wickets in this series so far which is not only the most by a bowler in this series but also the fourth most by an overseas leg-spinner in a Test series in India.

·         Top captains & vice captains – England were in trouble after losing four wickets under 100 runs in their first innings, but then their run-machine Jonny Bairstow played a gutsy knock, scoring his tenth 50-plus score this year in Tests as a wicketkeeper. It is now the most by a wicketkeeper in a calendar year in Tests. India were in a spot of bother when they lost five wickets on Day 2 of 3rd test but Ravichandran Ashwin again stood up and played a handy innings, and by forging a partnership with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja which helped India go past England's first innings total of 283.

·       Smart pick – The spinners led by Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav have cast their web around the English batsmen and they are finding it tough to break free. The success of Indian spinners and the seamers Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami have spelt doom for the English team in this series.

·         Cautions Pick – The worrying for the team India management is the sudden dip in form of Deputy Ajinkya Rahane. The form of the openers is also bit of a concern.  These are the headaches the Indian team management has to resolve soon.

My XI – Jonny Bairstow (Captain), R Ashwin (Vice-Captain), Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, Jayant Yadav, Alastair Cook, C Pujara, Virat Kohli, Gareth Batty, Keaton Jennings, Karun Nair
