Australia v South Africa on November 24

Australia will take on South Africa in the third and final Test match of their ongoing series when the two sides meet at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, November 24. The match will be a day-night fixture and will be played with a pink ball. An Australian team full of rookies will be pushed blinking into the spotlight of the day-night test in Adelaide facing a huge task to prevent South Africa from completing an unprecedented series sweep on their home soil. No team has ever swept Australia on their own pitches in a series of three or more tests and the hosts can be expected to fight hard to restore pride under the lights of Adelaide Oval. Apart from a determination to whitewash Australia, South Africa bring a chip on their shoulder after their stand-in captain Faf du Plessis was hauled before an ICC hearing in Adelaide on Tuesday and found guilty of ball-tampering during the Hobart test.

·         Best economical pick – The Australians were bowled out for 85 runs in the first innings of second test as Vernon Philander ran riot with five wickets. Kyle Abbott, who replaced Steyn in the side, claimed three wickets as well.

·         Top captains & vice captains – Quinton de Kock scored an important hundred to help South Africa post 326 runs in their first innings of the second test. There were important contributions from Temba Bavuma, Hashim Amla and Philander as well. David Warner, having just turned 30, is suddenly the oldest and most experienced player in the team with 56 tests and one of only three specialist batsmen retained from the Hobart debacle.

·         Smart pick – Australia put up a good fight in the second innings of second test initially through David Warner and Usman Khawaja. Khawaja scored 68 runs in the second test. However, once the two were dismissed, South Africa’s bowlers ran riot, bowling them out for 161 runs. Abbott claimed six wickets with Kagiso Rabada bagging the remaining four.

·         Cautions Pick – Stephen Cook the South African opener failed to give a good platform in first 2 tests. Cook scored 12 runs in the first test and 23 runs in the second test. So be careful before trading him in your fantasy squad.
