India vs England on November 17
The India vs England five test match series kicked off in grand fashion as England fought out of their skins to put the hosts on the back foot but eventually managing to get only a draw. The second India vs England test is scheduled to begin on November 17, 2016, in the picturesque city of Vishakhapatnam. The ACA-VDCA Stadium is famous for making some batting paradise during the Indian Premier League. However, this time round the pitch is definitely not going to be like the one we generally get in Vishakhapatnam, and the ball is expected to turn from the second day itself. In fact, after a relatively less turning pitch by Indian standard in Rajkot, where spinners from either side failed to make much of an impact, the pitch is expected to have a vicious turn. And the curators have promised that as well.
· Best economical pick – Ravi Ashwin have decent records in vizag with four wickets in three odis. Ashwin's T20 record of 16 wickets in nine games at only 5.09 runs per over too shows he doesn't mind playing there.
· Top captains & vice captains – The first test India vs England test match ended in a draw, but there were lots of positives that England could take from the game. Winning the toss, Alistair Cook’s men put India under pressure with a mammoth total. India also gave a good reply although they fell short by 49 runs. However, a century from the captain Cook and a gritty knock from debutant Haseeb Hameed saw the visitors piling up a good total in the second innings as well.
· Smart pick – India having being set a target of 310 in at least 49 overs had no other options than playing out the overs. But India’s batting line-up started to crumble under pressure, and yet again, Virat Kohli’s bat became the savior. Ravichandran Ashwin also provided great support to his captain as India eventually managed to play out the day and the match in a draw.
· Cautions Pick – Both teams have looked settled with their starting line-up. However, few changes are likely to come in with players getting fit before the start of the game. One such player is Lokesh Rahul who has been in good form for India. India also needs to strengthen their opening slot, so if Rahul can get fit in time, he might just get back in the opening spot ahead of Gautam Gambhir who could not do himself any favour by getting out for 29 in the first innings and a duck in the second innings.
My XI – A Cook (Captain), Haseeb Hameed (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, Johny Bairstow, R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, Ben Duckett, Umesh Yadav
