Kohli, who helped India to chase down many intimidating totals, batted swiftly during his 154, not out innings. Indian captain MS Dhoni after one year played a remarkable innings. His last worthy innings came against South Africa in 2015 at Holker Stadium, Indore when Indians were struggling against South African bowlers. Dhoni played an unbeaten 92 run innings before India lost top half for 165 runs. This time at Mohali Dhoni played gutsy 80 run innings coming at No. 4 and shared a crucial match winning 151 runs partnership with Virat Kohli. There was a moment of the match when Dhoni looked more dangerous than Virat Kohli.

·       Smart pick – With India needed just two wickets to all out New Zealand at 38th over of the 3^rd odi, all-rounder James Neesham played a cameo as he scored a quick 47 balls 57 run innings that salvaged New Zealand’s shrinking ship. The tourists were about to dismiss for a paltry total, but it was Neesham who played an important innings which helped them to put a respectable 285 runs before Indian bowlers bowled out them.

·         Cautions Pick – Indian opening pair Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahne failed to give India a good start as Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for five runs by Matt Henry and Rohit Sharma head to the dressing room scoring just 13 runs in the 3^rd odi.
