Sri Lanka v Australia on September 6
· Fresh from their 4-1 drubbing in the recently concluded five-match One Day International (ODI) series, Sri Lanka will be looking for a change of fortunes in the Twenty20 format in the first game on 6 September. The hosts who are currently placed eighth in the ICC T20 International rankings with 96 points have struggled in the past and will look at this series to improve upon their position. They will be missing skipper and key player Angelo Mathews, who is ruled out of the series due to a calf strain he suffered in the fourth game. In his absence, Dinesh Chandimal is expected to shoulder the captaincy, with the hosts going in with a young and inexperienced line-up. Australia put a nightmarish show in the Test series behind them to win the ODI series quite comfortably. Their focus will now be on T20 cricket, but come into the series ravaged by injuries. However, the injuries to players will mean that George Bailey, Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade will get a chance to stake their claim for a spot in the side.
· Best economical pick – Adam Zampa's T20 career began in South Africa, where he went wicketless in two games, but Asia has been kinder to him. He took five wickets across two games in the World T20, and has generally been economical, if a shade under-bowled. If Zampa can get through that trial, however, he will have made further headway in what is becoming a good limited-overs career.
· Top captains & vice captains – George Bailey was the standout batsman for Australia in the ODI series. He was the highest scorer in ODI series with 270 at an average of 67.5 and he will be expected to fire in first T20I. The Australian Skipper David Warner finally back to form after a horrible Sri Lanka tour. The Aussie opener scored first odi century for an Australian batsmen in Sri Lanka and led his team for a 4-1 series victory.
· Smart pick – The Sri Lankan bowlers tried their best to take Sri Lanka to a win in previous match, but 195 was too low a score to defend. Sachith Pathirana again showed why he is considered to be the next big thing to emerge from Sri Lanka, bowling with guile and control.
· Cautions Pick – Sri Lankan middle order batsman Kusal Perera have had a horrible ODI series before coming to this T20 series. He has failed to score almost in all matches. He has the tendency get out very quickly so before pick him in your team be careul.
My XI – George Bailey (Captain), David Warner (Vice-Captain), Adam Zampa, Sachith Pathirana. D Chandimal, Mitchell Starc, John Hastings, Kusal Mendis, Travis Head, James Faulkner, Chamara Kapugedera
