CricBattle Daily Fantasy Football Leagues Tips:
FRA-IRL GER-SVK HUN-BEL on June 26
France' performances haven't been very convincing so far in the tournament. They weren't really put under any real pressure in their three group stage matches but have required late goals in almost all of them to get over the line. Without an inspired Dimitri Payet, the group could have been a lot worse for the hosts. Ireland's performances have also been incredibly poor and they were made to wait until the last five minutes against Italy in their final group game to get into the knockout phase of the competition. Ireland haven't beaten France in any of their last five meetings and have only scored one goal in that time.
Germany progressed through the group with relative ease although the performances on the whole were not convincing. They should have thrashed Northern Ireland but were denied by an in-form Michael McGovern. Slovakia finished as one of the four third-place finishers in the group stages and aren't expected to get any further than this fixture despite beating Germany 3-1 in a friendly a week before Euro 2016 started.
Hungary are the surprise package in this tournament after they won Group F ahead of Portugal, Iceland and Austria. They are one of only four countries that scored in each of their three group matches. They are the underdogs in this tie but Belgium have never convinced under Mark Wilmots and they have a chance of causing a huge upset. Due to the nature of how the draw for the knockout phase of Euro 2016 panned out, Belgium are now one of the favorites for the competition even though they haven't convinced in recent years despite the wealth of quality in their squad. Wilmots must ensure his players do not look too far ahead and focus on the job in hand here.
Best economical pick – Brugge’s right back Thomas Meunier has been a young sensation for Belgium. He has been very impressive with his runs in the right wing and he is meeting his strikers inside the box with his pin-point passes. He could be a decent pick for your team available at just salary of 8.
Top captains & vice captains – The World’s best Goal Keeper Manuel Neuer has kept 3 clean sheets in 3 games of the group stages. The Bayern Munich’s man is expected not to concede any goals against this Slovakian attack. West Ham’s mid-fielder Dimitri Payet lived up to the expectations and has contributed with 2 goals and 1 assist already. He is likely to hit the back of the net against Ireland as well.
Smart pick – Chelsea’ man Eden Hazard has not made a huge impact yet but he had two crucial assists which helped Belgium to get into knockouts easier than expected after that early defeat against the Italians. He is a great pick for your fantasy team.
Be careful – The Southampton’s striker Shane Long has miserably failed in all the group stage matches. He wouldn’t be a nice choice for your fantasy team.
My XI – Manuel Neuer (Captain & GK), Dimitri Payet (Vice-Captain), Patrice Evra, Thomas Meunier, Thomas Vermaelen, Eden Hazard, Sami Khedira, Thomas Muller, Ngolo Kante, Olivier Giroud, Mario Gomez.
