UKR-POL NIR-GER CRO-ESP CZE-TUR on June 21
Ukraine were the first side eliminated from Euro 2016 and have nothing to play for other than pride against a neighboring country. Their finishing prevented Poland from securing a heroic victory against Germany last time out but they still have a chance of topping the group, although it would seem unlikely. Beating Ukraine is well within their means but they cannot waste great chances like they did against the Germans.
Northern Ireland currently occupy third place in Group C after they secured their first win of the tournament against Ukraine last time out. Realistically they aren't going to beat World Champions Germany so it could be a case of keeping the goal difference down as low as possible to give them a good shot of qualifying as one of four best third place finishers. Germany haven't set the tournament on fire and they were lucky to come away with a 0-0 draw against Poland last time out. Germany have won the last four meetings against Northern Ireland and scored at least three goals in each of those matches. Another score line like that would be a disaster for Michael O'Neil's side.
Croatia were leading Czech Republic 2-0 when Modric was brought off by Ante Cacic in the 62nd minute before finishing the game 2-2. Instead of going into this clash with Spain with their spot in the knockout stage already confirmed, Croatia could end up coming third if they lose to Spain and Czech Republic comfortably beat Turkey. Spain could use this game to rest key players, which could help Croatia's cause, but Vicente Del Bosque will want to finish as group winners and secure an easier draw in the last 16 so the Spaniards also have something to play for here.
Czech Republic have handed themselves a life line in the competition after they came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Croatia in a eventful last 15 minutes. They need to beat Turkey to have any chance of qualifying automatically and must hope Spain put Croatia to the sword in the group's other match. Turkey are all but out of Euro 2016 after their 3-0 humbling by Spain. They would need to thrash Czech Republic here to have any chance of qualifying as one of the four best third-placed teams and based on their first two matches that is not going to happen. Czech Republic have won five of their nine meetings with Turkey but did taste defeat the last time they met in October last year. They should have enough to beat a poor Turkey side here, however.
Best economical pick – The Barcelona’s central defender Gerard Pique scored an important header in their 1-0 win against Czech where Petr Cech was hard to beat by. The Spanish man will be an effective pick available at salary 8.
Top captains & vice captains – Thomas Muller wasn’t at his best in first 2 fixtures of Euros. He is very eager to get on the score sheet and it will be the best time to do it against this vulnerable Northern Ireland’s defense. While on the other hand, The Juventus’ forward Alvaro Morata has shut down the haters with an impressive brace against Turkey and is expected to perform with the same intensity in this game against Croatia too.
Smart pick – The Bayern Munich’s striker Robert Lewandowski hasn’t announced his presence yet but he is more likely to make a big impact against Ukraine who are low on confidence.
Be careful – The Croatian forward Mario Mandzukic has been a disappointment for Croatia in their opening two matches and he isn’t a good choice against this Spanish defense.
My XI – Thomas Muller (Captain), Alvaro Morata (Vice-Captain), Jonas Hector, Shkodran Mustafi, Gerard Pique, Mesut Ozil, Jaroslav Plasil, Koke, Manuel Neuer (GK), Robert Lewandowski, Tomas Sivok.
