England Vs Sri Lanka on June 9
· The hosts have had a perfect start to the summer, winning both their games against Sri Lanka. While they absolutely destroyed the visitors in the first game, the second game saw the Lankans show some fight in the second innings which did surprise England. Eventually, England won the second test comfortably by nine wickets in a match that saw skipper Alastair Cook become the first Englishman to reach the 10,000-run mark. England will be confident of a clean sweep. A win here will see Sri Lanka suffer the first whitewash in their test history. With no injury worries as such, they are expected to go in with the same team that played in the last test.
· Best economical pick – Despite Sri Lanka’s poor show in this series they had some positives, in particular their fightback in the second innings. Dinesh Chandimal showed why he is rated so highly, scoring a measured 126, his sixth test ton and first ever century outside Asia.
· Top captains & vice captains – James Anderson was the standout performer with ball for England in this series. He is the leading wicket taker in this test series with 18 wickets to his name. Joe Root, recently crowned England's player of the year in all formats, will be expected to lead the batting as he aims to reclaim the No. 1 ranking in Tests from Steven Smith.
· Smart pick – The English All-Rounder Moeen Ali finally ended his run drought to score an unbeaten 155 in the first innings which is his second century in test cricket. Both of his centuries came against Sri Lanka.
· Be careful – Sri Lankan veteran spinner Rangana Herath is not performing to his skills in this series. The conditions have not suited spinner Rangana Herath either. He has taken just 3 wickets in this series.
My XI – James Anderson (Captain), Joe Root (Vice-Captain), Dinesh Chandimal, Moeen Ali, Alex Hales, James Vince, Steven Finn, Suranga Lakmal, Stuart Broad, Dasun Shanaka, M Siriwardana
