England vs West Indies on September 19

After a very competitive test series England and Windies clashed at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Saturday in one-off T20 before gearing up for the ODI series. Windies are the champions of the shortest format of the game and they once again showed their prowess as they got better of the home side by 21 runs. England would eye revenge of their T20I loss when they take on West Indies in the first ODI at Manchester on Tuesday. England lost the one-off T20I by 21 runs and would look to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. West Indies, on the other hand, would look to build on the momentum gained from the T20I win.

·         Best economical pick – The leggie Adil Rashid made sure West Indies never got back as they could add only 70 runs in the last 10 overs in the only T20I. He spun a web around Chadwick Walton, Carlos Brathwaite and Narine. The figures of his in contrast with other bowlers which read 3/25 for Rashid.

·         Top captains & vice captains – After being invited to bat first, Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle started off cautiously only to launch a brutal attack on English bowlers. Both brought their Caribbean Premier League (CPL) form to the fore as the bowlers looked clueless. They scored 48 runs in the last three overs of power play. The opening pair of St. Kitts in CPL took a particular liking to Tom Curran as they amassed 32 runs off his first couple of overs. West Indies added 106 runs in first 10 overs and looked good to score well over 200. Gayle scored 40 off 21 and Lewis added another half-century to his kitty with 51 off 28 deliveries. Both hit 9 fours and 7 gigantic sixes together.

·       Smart pick – England missed the services of their star all-rounder Ben Stokes in the T20I loss to West Indies. Stokes can give that depth to the batting and bowling department. He can score runs quickly and even has the patience, skills and temperament to build an innings. He can break partnerships with his bowling and change the course of the game with his electric fielding.

·         Cautious Pick – England got off to the worst possible start as they lost Jason Roy off the first ball of the over in the run chase of Only T20I. Roy has been out of form since the Champions Trophy. So be careful before trading him in your squad.

My XI – Evin Lewis (Captain), Chris Gayle (Vice-Captain), Adil Rashid, Ben Stokes, Liam Plunkett, Alex Hales, Jerome Taylor, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Jason Holder, Eoin Morgan
