West Indies vs Bangladesh on May 13

Yesterday, Windies beat Ireland by five wickets and qualified for the final of the tri-nation series. For them, the game won’t have much of a significance and the Caribbean team may give their reserves an opportunity. Their batting has been reasonable, but their bowling has looked a tad clueless when put under pressure. Jason Holder & Co are next scheduled to play Bangladesh at The Village in Dublin. The Tigers, on the other hand, are sitting pretty with six points. Their last game versus Ireland was washed out. With a squad of 19 in their ranks and a maximum of three games left before the World Cup, Bangladesh has a lot of thinking to do. For the time being, Mashrafe Mortaza’s men need only one victory in order to book themselves a berth in the final and also knock Ireland out of the tournament. The pitch in Dublin is again expected to be a batting-friendly one. Last time, Ireland and the Windies aggregated over 650 runs and bowlers were literally taken apart. The next game is speculated to be no different.

Best economical pick – Though he was brought into the side to perform an enforcer's role in the middle overs, it shouldn't be forgotten that Shannon Gabriel can give batsmen a good working over with the new ball as well. He has picked up three of the seven wickets that Windies have taken in the last two games. Gabriel can trouble batsmen with steep bounce, and West Indies might even consider giving him the new ball to change things up.

Top captains & vice captains – Shai Hope has had a terrific outing with the bat, registering two brilliant centuries in the first two games. After a whirlwind of an innings in the first game against Ireland in the first game, he piled up a well-composed 109 in a losing cause against the Tigers. With Campbell’s fitness still in doubt, they need another explosive knock from young Barbados cricketer. Not only does Tamim Iqbal often lay a solid foundation, but he is also capable of accelerating when required. He did a bit of both in the first match against Windies, starting cautiously before working up a nice flow en route to 80 runs.

Smart pick – Bangladesh were brilliant in their first game of the series, shining in all departments to defeat West Indies by eight wickets. Soumya Sarkar made a fluent 73 in that match.

Cautions Pick – The game is an inconsequential one for the Windies and they could make some changes. Darren Bravo scored 26 runs in two games and Shane Dowrich may be tested out.

My XI – Shai Hope (Captain), Tamim Iqbal (Vice-Captain), Shannon Gabriel, Soumya Sarkar, Sunil Ambris, John Campbell, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Jason Holder, Sabbir Rahman
