South Africa vs West Indies on October 26
South Africa and West Indies are set to cross swords in Match No.18 of the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, October 26 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The Caribbean team, led by Kieron Pollard, got off to a disastrous start after England beat them by six wickets with 70 balls left. West Indies were bowled out for a paltry 55 after which the Brits chased the target down in 8.2 overs. The Proteas also lost their opening game against Australia by five wickets after not being able to defend 118. Earlier this year, South Africa defeated West Indies 3-2 in a bilateral T20I series.
Best economical pick – Anrich Nortje was impressive against Australia as he held his own with a couple of wickets. The express pacer has been spot on with his lines and lengths in the UAE and should ideally pick up a wicket or two in this game for the South Africans.
Top captains & vice captains – Quinton de Kock had a rough outing against the Aussies as he managed a 12-ball seven before Josh Hazlewood castled him. But against the West Indies, the left-hander has decent records. When the Proteas last toured the Caribbean Islands, De Kock racked up 255 runs from five matches at an average of 51 and a strike rate of 141.66. Like De Kock, Evin Lewis also had a rare failure in his previous outing. However, Lewis has been in fine form in recent months, impressing for the Rajasthan Royals and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. With Lewis capable of scoring quick runs at the top of the order, he is one to watch out for in this game.
Smart pick – Tabraiz Shamsi was excellent against the Aussies as he finished with figures of 4-0-22-1. Earlier this year, he played the five-match series against the West Indies where he showed his class. There he picked up seven wickets from five matches at a stupendous economy rate of four. The West Indies batters need to play him with utmost caution.
Cautious Pick – West Indies might change Ravi Rampaul with Hayden Walsh Jr who has done great for them in all these times. He was brilliant when Australia toured them as he picked 12 wickets in five games.
My XI – Quinton de Kock (Captain), Evin Lewis (Vice-Captain), Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi, Akeal Hossein, Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma, Dwayne Bravo, David Miller, Nicholas Pooran, Rassie ven der Dussen
