South Africa vs Pakistan on February 6

Two matches, two very close finish, but one result. South Africa has been on the lucky end of the first two T20I matches in the three-match series against Pakistan. With a 1-0 lead in the series, South Africa posted 188 in their 20 overs. The Proteas were ruthless as they exposed the Pakistan bowlers and got to their total pretty comfortably. Pakistan on the other hand, were a much better side chasing the score as they at one point looked like they well on their way. But with a few wickets during the death overs, Proteas made sure that they clinched the three-match T20 series. Both teams now head to the SuperSport Park in Centurion for the third and final T20I.

Best economical pick – While Pakistan bowlers had a pretty dismal day on Sunday, one bowler stood out and how. Imad Wasim just conceded nine runs in his four over spell and picked up one wicket. Wasim was absolutely dangerous and looked at one point as if he was going to take a wicket every time he was running into bowl.

Top captains & vice captains – One of the highly rated batsmen in the Pakistan side right now, Babar Azam showed exactly why there is so much talk around him as he scored a massive 58-ball 90 during Pakistan’s run chase. Babar Azam scored 13 boundaries and looked absolutely in command during his innings. Taking on the role of a captain from Faf du Plessis, David Miller really showed why is one of the most feared T20 batsman in the world. Pakistan who were quite decent with the ball until then had no answers for the Miller onslaught as the batsman dealt in maximums.

Smart pick – Andile Phehlukwayo has definitely been the player for South Africa in the last few months. Shining with the bat and ball, Phehlukwayo is a resourceful player who often gets the job done for his team. While Pakistan looked like they were cruising at one point, Phehlukwayo pulled Proteas back into the game with a wicket and then kept Pakistan at bay with a brilliant last over.

Cautions Pick – Being a leg-spinner Shadab Khan was expected to make an impact and make some inroads into the South African batting, but he was taken apart for 38 runs in the first T20I and 25 runs in the second match. The youngster also didn’t bowl his quota of four overs in both the matches. He didn’t have much to do either with the bat in hand.

My XI – Babar Azam (Captain), David Miller (Vice-Captain), Andile Phehlukwayo, Imad Wasim, Reeza Hendricks, Beuran Hendricks, Tabraiz Shamsi, Shaheen Afridi, Gihahn Cloete, Fakhar Zaman, Shoaib Malik
