Kolkata vs Rajasthan on April 25

Remember that night when Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine overshadowed Steve Smith‘s belligerent 73? In their first meeting, this season KKR has comfortably carved out an 8-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals. After playing 5 matches, the Royals will again lock horns with the Purple outfits. What did RR learn from failures? Are they up to the mark to beat the traditional heavyweights? Their form hit a new low as the Knight Riders lost five matches on the trot. Well, Royals have been on and off this season, they lost their previous match against Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets. But of late, Knight Riders seems to be impromptu with their batting line up. They have been following the same pattern since the first match of this edition. The first time when Royals lost, Ajinkya Rahane was at the helm but now it is Smith’s turn to spew venom on their rivals, who they got thrashed a fortnight ago.

Best economical pickRiyan Parag, the 17-year-old batting all-rounder from Assam, has turned out to be a worthy addition for the Royals in the past few games. Although Parag hasn't got loads of chances in this year's IPL, he has made generous contributions with both the bat and the ball. Thus, with the tournament moving into its most crucial stage, Royals will expect a lot more from the youngster in the approaching games.

Top captains & vice captains – Over the years, Andre Russell has become a demolition man in his own right. Russell only needs around 15-20 balls to change the course of the game. The tall and brawny Jamaican is a destructive powerhouse who can even mistime a hit for a six. That is the reason why Russell has become a danger man to any team in the short format of the game. Steve Smith has been captain for the pink outfits for the last two games of which they won one. In the previous match, he hammered a half-ton but the limelight was hogged by Ajinkya Rahane who scored a tremendous 105 not out. Despite the injury, the Australian has been doing well. Let’s wait and see what wonders he can do on Thursday.

Smart pick – Ajinkya Rahane, who had to let go of the captaincy recently, has struck form at the right time as he smashed a fantastic hundred against the Delhi Capitals. Thus, the experienced campaigner will unquestionably prove to be a vital cog for the Royals in this game.

Cautious Pick – For Sunil Narine, it has been a drab outing so far. It’s time for him to step up and contribute to his team with both bat and ball. So far he has scored 132 runs in eight matches he played while he picked up 6 wickets.

My XI – Andre Russell (Captain), Steve Smith (Vice-Captain), Riyan Parag, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Gopal, Piyush Chawla, Dhawal Kulkarni, Dinesh Karthik, Jofra Archer, Sanju Samson, Chris Lynn
