India vs South Africa on October 2

India and South Africa resume their rivalry in the Test format as the first Test begins on Wednesday. After a stalemate in the T20I series, South Africa will take a lot of confidence considering the relative inexperience of the side that featured in the series. Led by Faf du Plessis, South Africa don't have happy memories of the last time they were here in 2015. Drubbed by an Indian side led by the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, South Africa will look to overcome those demons this time around. On the other hand, India will ideally enter into this game as the clear favorites although they miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah. With this being the first Test to be held in India after the start of the ICC World Test Championship, it will be a special occasion for Virat Kohli's side, which leads the points table after a good series win away in West Indies.

Best economical pick – Zubayr Hamza, made his Test debut against Pakistan in January 2019. He scored 41 and 0 from the two innings he played. At the age of 19, Hamza had become the fourth youngest South African to score a double hundred in first-class cricket. He was also a part of the South Africa A team that toured India in 2018, where he scored a century and a fifty. Hamza, a middle-order batsman, is known for his ability to bat long hours with patience and grit. With Hashim Amla retired, South Africa would expect Hamza to live up to the expectations and seal his spot in the middle order.

Top captains & vice captains – Virat Kohli is the ideal choice for captain with the Indian captain in fine form. He would be looking to make amends for a sub-par Test series against the West Indies with a solid knock in Vizag. Quinton de Kock has been South Africa's best batsman in the Test format over the last year or so. Batting down the order, his ability to play with the tail bodes well for the South Africans and should earn a good number of fantasy points in this Test

Smart pick – Temba Bavuma bats at No: 5 in Tests, and he is a batsman with solid defence and technique. That said, his stats don't exactly justify his talent. Having made his Test debut in December 2014 against West Indies, Temba averages just 33 from 36 matches, with one century and 13 fifties to his name. Bavuma made his T20I debut in the recently concluded series against India in which he scored 49 and 27. South Africa would expect him to continue his form in the upcoming Test series as well.

Cautions Pick – Rishabh Pant has been facing a lot of backlash after failing to deliver consistently at the international level. His poor shot selection has frequently put his team into trouble. Pant had scores of 27, 24 and 7 versus West Indies. Though he has been good when it comes to keeping behind the wickets, his poor form with the bat has been piling pressure on him.

My XI – Virat Kohli (Captain), Quinton de Kock (Vice-Captain), Temba Bavuma, Zubayr Hamza, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane
