West Indies vs India on July 9
With India dominating the one-day series, it is over to the one format the West Indies are still world-class in T20 internationals with both sides facing in each other in a one-off T20I in Jamaica on Sunday. The India squad remains the same from the one that played the five-match one-day series. The West Indies have gone with a stronger squad for the one-off T20 match, with Chris Gayle coming back into the side, all set to play at his home ground in Jamaica. The team that will be captained by Carlos Brathwaite will expect to pose a much stiffer competition to this Indian side than they managed in the ODIs, and looking at the squad, that does look likely.
· Best economical pick – Kuldeep Yadav has been very impressive in his debut series. After two three-wicket hauls in his first two games, He managed to bag 2 wickets in his third outing for team India. Then went wicket less in 5th ODI but bowled an economical spell off 36 runs in his complete quota of 10 overs.
· Top captains & vice captains – Virat Kohli yet again proved his credentials while chasing as the Indian skipper scored an unbeaten 111 against the Windies in the final ODI to clinch the series 3-1. With this hundred, Kohli now has 28 ODI centuries out of which he has scored 18 while chasing. He broke the record of most ODI centuries by a batsman while chasing which was earlier held by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who scored 17 hundreds in run chases. The series has definitely been the one to remember for the man of the series of ODI series Ajinkya Rahane. He has been instrumental in the series. With consistent scores of fifties and a century to his name in the first four games, then he scored 39 runs off 51 balls with 5 fours to his name in the fifth ODI.
· Smart pick – The leading run scorer in T20 cricket and has the most number of sixes to his name. He also has the most number of T20 tons to his name. Chris Gayle has been recalled to the national side for the one off T20I against India. Gayle was not a part of the West Indies lineup that turned up for the 3 match T20I series against Afghanistan recently. Now, he has been roped in the squad as a replacement for Lendl Simmons.
· Cautious Pick – Things have definitely not been very sweet for ace Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the recent times. In the team India outfit, Jadeja has had poor outings since the ICC Champions Trophy. The same continued in this series as he failed to get a wicket.
My XI – Virat Kohli (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-Captain), Kuldeep Yadav, Chris Gayle, Mohammad Shami, Jerome Taylor, Hardik Pandya, Chadwick Walton, Kedar Jadhav, Evin Lewis, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
