MUM vs PUN on May 21
The 10th edition of Indian Premier League has come to the end and Two-time winner Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Rising Pune Supergiant in the title clash in Hyderabad on Sunday. It is going to be an exciting thriller as top two sides of cash rich IPL league, Rising Pune Supergiant are eyeing to win maiden Indian Premier League trophy, While Mumbai Indians will look to win their 3rd IPL trophy. Mumbai Indians were the table toppers in the league stage and clashed with second placed Pune Supergiant in the first Qualifier, where they were defeated by 20 runs. Mumbai and Pune will be facing each other for the fourth time in the IPL 10. Pune have got the better of the two on all three occasions.
· Best economical pick – Krunal Pandya showed why he was preferred ahead of Harbhajan Singh in the very important qualifier 2 match. He may have gone wicket less with the ball but showed his utility with the bat, easing off the nerves in the MI camp after a horror start with a fine counter-attacking innings of 45 from 30 balls, hitting eight fours in total.
· Top captains & vice captains – MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the best finishers of the game in the modern era and he proved exactly that as he smashed the bowlers all around the park in his explosive knock of an unbeaten 40 runs in his 26 ball against MI in qualifier 1. He was at his aggressive best as he clobbered Jasprit Bumrah for two huge hits over the fence in the last over of the innings to give the Supergiant much-needed impetus, going into the second innings. The left-arm pacer of rising Pune super giant Jaydev Unadkat has been in impressive form this season and ahead of their first finals. He has breached the 20-wicket barrier this season despite playing only 11 games. The fast bowler has bowled crucial overs for his team in the power play and at death.
· Smart pick – Karn Sharma was the star performer with the ball for Mumbai in the qualifier 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders, returning excellent figures of 4/16 – the joint best effort by a spinner in an IPL knockout game. He was instrumental in halting the KKR score to a moderate one as he claimed the crucial wickets of Sunil Narine, Gautam Gambhir, Colin de Grandhomme and Ishank Jaggi.
· Cautious Pick – Ambati Rayudu who replaced Nitish Rana couldn’t repay the faith and became the second victim of Chawla. He expected the ball to turn and played inside the line but missed it altogether as it cannoned into the stumps and he had to make the long walk for 6 off 11 balls.
My XI – MS Dhoni (Captain), Jaydev Unadkat (Vice-Captain), Krunal Pandya, Karn Sharma, Steven Smith, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Tripathi, Kieron Pollard, Parthiv Patel
