New Zealand v Bangladesh on January 20

·         The Hagley Oval in Christchurch will be the setting on Friday, January 20 as New Zealand take on Bangladesh in the second and final Test match of their ongoing series. The contest also marks the end of Bangladesh’s ongoing tour of New Zealand, one that has seen the visitors go winless so far. New Zealand won the first Test by a good seven wickets at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. While Mushfiqur is a doubt for the second Test match, Shakib will be the key man for them after hitting form. New Zealand will look to their skipper to hit the run trail once again and he will be the main man for the Kiwis.

·         Best economical pick – New Zealand hit back with 539 runs of their own with Tom Latham leading the way with 177 runs. Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls and Mitchell Santner hit fifties while Ross Taylor and BJ Watling scored in their 40s.

·         Top captains & vice captains – Very good efforts from Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim with the bat saw Bangladesh move into a commanding position in the Test match as they posted 595/8 before choosing to declare. While Shakib brought up his first double-century in Test match cricket, skipper Rahim hit 159 runs. The duo shared a mammoth 359-run stand for the fifth wicket on the occasion. Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman made fifties as well with Neil Wagner the pick of the bowlers for the Kiwis with four wickets to his name.

·         Smart pick – Skipper Kane Williamson took control during the fourth innings chase, hitting an unbeaten 104 off just 90 deliveries to help his side complete the win with little time to spare on the final day. Taylor also got into the act with 60 runs of his own on the decisive day.

·       Cautions Pick – The Bangladeshi Pace bowler Taskin Ahmed going through a bad patch right now. He took only 1 wicket in the first test by conceding a lot of runs with an economy rate of above 5. So be careful before picking him in your fantasy team.

My XI – Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Mushfiqur Rahim (Vice-Captain), Kane Williamson, Mominul Haque,Tom Latham, Jeet Raval, Subashis Roy, Trent Boult, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner, Tamim Iqbal
